'Liquid Migration in European Societies' - Public lecture by Godfried Engbersen, VUB, 28/01/2010

The VUB "Cities & Migration Group" is very pleased to invite you for the public lecture on "Liquid Migration in European Societies" by Professor Godfried Engbersen (Erasmus University Rotterdam), that will take place at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel on Thursday January 28th from 4-5 pm in room D0.02, and will be followed by a reception.
Godfried Engbersen (1958) is Professor of Sociology at the Erasmus University of Rotterdam. He has worked at the Universities of Leiden, Amsterdam, Utrecht and of California, Berkeley. He has written extensively on various issues relating to migration and integration and the city by applying a broad inter-disciplinary perspective. His expertise stretches into aspects of social inequality, urban marginality, migration and integration policies, and the positions of ethnic minorities and illegal immigrants. He is the author of numerous books, including Spheres of Integration: Towards a Differentiated Ethnic Minorities Policy (with R. Gabriels). Recent publications include two books on the illegal migration question: De ongekende stad: Inbedding en uitsluiting van illegale vreemdelingen (The Unknown City: Embeddedness and Exclusion of Illegal Immigrants, Amsterdam: Boom 1999). In 2010 a new book on EU enlargement and labour migration from Central and Eastern Europe, edited by Godfried Engbersen and others, will appear with AUP.
